It’s hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There’s no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light.
His strong hands guided my hips as we danced. Nothing in the world ever mattered more than in those moments when he held me close. I stared deeply into his blue eyes and wondered if he remembered when we first danced to this song.
I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky’s a different blue
And as he leaned in to kiss my forehead, I closed my eyes.
It was September 4, 2001.
We sat in his car overlooking the baseball diamond that laid dormant beneath a thick overgrowth of weeds. My birthday dinner was untouched in Styrofoam containers at my feet. We didn’t feel like celebrating.
Today his Grandma passed away.
The night time crickets chirping and the occasional gust of wind rustling through the tall grass were the only sounds that accompanied us in the car. The silence was awkward yet somehow soothing.
Shawn reached over and turned on the radio and I watched bewildered as he got out of the car. He opened my door and with an outstretched hand he said,
“Will you dance with me?”
I smiled and placed my hand so small in his. He was so much bigger than I and so much stronger, yet his touch was so gentle. When I got to my feet he pulled me close. The moon and the stars lit our path and the gravel crunched under our feet as we swayed across the vacant parking lot.
Lock the doors
We’ll leave the world outside
All I’ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I
“Isn’t it funny how your Grandma told everyone at the hospital that we are married. We have only been dating for 9 months!”
“You know, the first day she met you she told me that you were the one. I love you.”
I smiled and rested my head on his broad chest, listening to the rythm of the music dancing with his beating heart.  He kissed my forehead and I closed my eyes feeling our love guiding our feet across the ground.
When I opened them I locked eyes with his.
“Your Grandma was right.”
He smiled and whispered in my ear,
“So was I.”
Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes oh, when I couldn’t see
You parted my lips when I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving meWhen I couldn’t fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips when I couldn’t breathe
Thank you for loving meThank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Oh for loving me

I really enjoyed that. It mirrors my sons story, his grandma always wanted him to be with his sisters best friend. When my Mum died Nikki came to comfort them both and they got together, she went into labour today:)))

Aww. I love it. I thought of you today because it’s Chuck Norris’ birthday! You should use that for an excuse to have cake. But babe, he’s 71. 71!!!!! Anyway, that had nothing to do with your post but just wanted to tell you I was thinking about you.
