My heart leapt in erratic as I watched the cursor blink at the end of the final sentence of my pitch. All that was left to do was hit submit.
Just one click.
“What’s the worst that could happen? They say no. You drink until you don’t feel your hurt feelings and then you get the herp. See, it’s nothing to worry about. You write and you write good. Just do it,” my husband said over my shoulder.
So I did.
And I got an email back.
I made it.
Syndicated on BlogHer.
My one day of syndicated fame was something magical. It was the validation that I needed. Writing my journey of love, laughter, and living a hundred feet away from the light of the sun’s rays was important to so many and was well written.
That was back in 2011.
Since then, I have submitted numerous posts to BlogHer all about mental health, and none have been accepted.
But I kept trying.
Then I got an email yesterday telling me that my post “Hide“ was curated on BlogHer.
I wrote it in hopes that more people suffering with a mental illness in silence would finally reach out like I did. It is such an important topic.
I invite you to join me over at BlogHer and jump into the conversation.
(A giant thanks to BlogHer for allowing me to use their platform to spread awareness of mental health.)
