I don’t care how cute you think your newborn is, they all look like wrinkly old men and I cannot resist snuggling with them.
And smelling their little heads.
Did it just get weird?
It’s been 5 years since I’ve held a baby.
I blame my friends for having uteruses that are purposely locked behind a steel door.
Thankfully my brother stepped up to the plate and blessed the world, and my vacant baby arms, with a beautiful boy. I couldn’t wait to hold him, squish him, and love him with all that I had.
And you bet I did.
At one point his mom had to fight me off with a donut (which is also irresistible).
Rewinding to 5 years ago, to when my son had colic, it was impossible to do anything.
I’d rock, bounce, walk, shuffle, dance, hum, vacuum clean, brush my teeth because maybe he was crying because my breath smelled…just to get him to stop wailing. Then when he did, I did not want to move a single muscle. I’d slowly squat down to take a seat and ease back into the sofa so that he laid on my chest. Then I’d see that the remote control was 5 feet away along with my book and a bottle of beer.
I don’t read.
I would just sit there holding him in silence. It would have been great if I could have sat there motionless while doing something that I enjoyed.
Now new moms can!
This is a SleepBelt, a hands free, skin-to-skin support system, designed for new moms (and dads!) who love to cuddle but also would like to take advantage of this time to catch up on reading, writing, or flipping your hair just like the girl in the above picture.
It doesn’t matter, when you’re a new mom, free hands are just as important as clean underwear.
The SleepBelt allows for simple transfer of baby from chest to crib. With no shoulder straps, like other slings, to wriggle out of. For you new moms out there, you will soon find out how difficult it is to put a sleeping baby down without waking them!
It ensures baby stays in the same position he would if he were cuddled on your chest using nothing at all. The simplicity of the SleepBelt is incomparable. It takes mere seconds to get on and off, vs a complicated wrap or carrier. It’s great for dads too – with a 12” size span per SleepBelt, it can often fit both parents.
Here is a short video of the SleepBelt in use:
I was given a free SleepBelt for my sister in law to try out.
According to my soon to be sister in law:
“I really loved it. He loves to lay on my chest and I love it too. When I try to do things like playing on the computer, it is almost impossible to do both. This allowed me to be able to do that. I was worried that it wasn’t going to hold him, but it did. Even when he started to wriggle around. It is comfortable and you hardly notice that it is on. I love it.”
If you are interested in purchasing (this CANADIAN MADE) SleepBelt, please head on over to their website http://sleepbelt.ca
This will make a great gift for a new mom (hint for baby shower).
Because SleepBelt is awesome, they are offering one of my readers a SleepBelt!
