He was up at least ten times throughout the night. I could hear him running to the kitchen to check the time and then back to his bedroom where he threw himself on his mattress with a disappointed thud. He wrestled with his thick covers and I could hear his stuffed animals getting tossed onto the hardwood floor. Then the one step, two step, three, four fisixseveneininerun-run-run-run to our bed to shake us wider awake than what we already were.
“Mom and dad! We can’t be late for the hockey tournament!”
“Buddy, it’s TWO in the morning. We don’t leave until EIGHT.”
“Oh. Ok. I just want to make sure that we aren’t late.”
And with a huff, he slid off the side of our bed, and pounded his feet loudly down the hall and back to his room.
My husband groaned but I couldn’t help but laugh.
I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been as passionate about something like he is as passionate about hockey — and I LOVE THAT. I love that he has found something that makes his heart happy and if it makes him happy, you better believe we will drive over 4 hours on a snowy Friday morning to get him to a hockey tournament.
Yes we will.
We drove through snow squalls actually.
While Shawn and I were trying to calmly scream at each other “Is that a truck or just a brick wall of snow?”
He was in the back seat, toasty, and with no cares in the world as Netflix lulled him right to sleep.
He was watching downloaded “Elf”
Yes, downloaded right from Netflix! If you didn’t know that you could do this…this is going to be a HUGE game changer for you over the holiday season with all of the traveling that you might be doing. When Shawn traveled to Japan, he downloaded entire series and watched it on the 13 hour plane ride. Such a life saver.
When Netflix is on the go with you, everyone stays content, engaged and, most importantly, NOT bored.
Us parents can all relate to this parody!
Even though our little guy fell asleep during Elf – I mean he was up all throughout the night with the anxiety bug and feeling excited – he went on to power through the first game and was the player of the game!
We were incredibly proud of him.
After the tournament that kicked our cans in the exhaustion department, we have been doing lots of vegging and Netflixing. So I want to share with you some of our finds:
I am so excited that Lady Dynamite is back for Season 2. If you have not watched this show, please, give it a go. It is absolutely hilarious and Maria Bamford is stellar.
Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond – I adore Jim Carrey and Andy Kauffman was a brilliant comedian. This documentary was not what I expected. It delves into the minds of both Jim and Andy. I was left speechless. I loved this.
The Night Before – I watched this late last night on accident. I. Laughed. So. HARD. It is one of those goofy comedies that I needed to pick me up. Honestly, if you need a good belly laugh, this is it.
Of course we are still making our way through Shameless — no spoilers!!!
So here is what is new for families and remember, you can download these and take them on the road with you!
Glitter Force Doki Doki
Stretch Armstrong & The Flex Fighters
So what are you watching this month?
Are you doing any holiday travelling?
How does Netflix keep your family content and entertained while on the go?
